Thoughts on a Page One Rewrite.

I’m not an excellent cook.

I have a few quality meals that I can whip up (ahem *Ginger Beef Stir Fry* ahem) but I don’t, by any means, consider myself a chef.  I’m one of those people that when it doesn’t taste like I want it to, I just keep adding more ingredients in blind hope I’d solved the problem.  Add more.  And more.  And more.   Finally, and painfully, I accept defeat and throw my Mac N Cheese away.

The problem is… I still haven’t eaten yet.

That’s where I’ve landed with my current screenplay.  My manager, agent, and the producer all LOVE my idea, but I added so many spices and plot twists and character turns to the basic story, it’s now a total disaster.

We decided I needed to start over.  The dreaded “Page One Rewrite.”

So I broke it down to notecards, rearranged, and now I’m ready to write something Hitchcock would have wanted to direct… wouldn’t that have been cool?

After it’s done, I’ll let you know how it went.
